Alexandr Bilinkis (born 28 June 1968, Kishinev, Moldavian SSR, Soviet Union) – businessman, public and diplomatic figure, philanthropist.

Alexandr Bilinkis is known as a successful entrepreneur, one of the largest investors in the food industry of Moldova. He is the founder and the President of the Development Group Holding., the co-owner and the President of the Board of the Orhei-Vit JSC, Dionysos Mereni JSC and Moldpresa Grup LTD. As public figure, is known as: the President of the Jewish Community of Moldova, member of the Executive Council of the European Jewish Fund. He is the Honorary Consul of the United Mexican States in Moldova. Actively performs charitable and sponsorship activities.

Holds both Moldovan and US citizenship, resides in Chisinau.

He was born into the family of scientific employees of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova (MSSR).

At school he was addicted to fencing, holds the title of the candidate for master of sports of the USSR. After school, in 1985-1986, he worked at the Institute of geology and geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova (MSSR). In 1986, he entered the Leningrad Mining Institute, faculty of geologic exploration, engineer-geologist qualification. In 1987-1989, he passed urgent military service in the Soviet Army.

During the studies, he was engaged in business. As a result, without completing his studies at the Institute, he went into the private business in 1992.

Since 2002 Alexandr Blinkis has been actively involved in the Jewish Community life. In 2006 he was elected as co-President of the Jewish Community of Moldova, in September 2013 was unanimously elected as President of the Jewish Community of Moldova. He is the one of the major and regular sponsors of it.

Participates in cultural heritage perseveration projects of the Jewish community in Moldova. Within the framework of activities concerning festive events of the 70th anniversary of Moldova’s liberation from fascism and the end of World War II, has initiated and participated in organizing and financing of the reconstruction of the memorial complex to the "Victims of Fascism".

Since 2006, Alexandr Bilinkis has been the member of the Executive Council of the European Jewish Fund, a non-governmental organization contributing to the development of European Jewry and promotion of tolerance and mutual respect in Europe.

In 2006, on the occasion of the holiday of Simchat Torah and in memory of his ancestors, he gave to the Jewish cultural center "KEDEM" in Chisinau the Torah Scrollas present.

At the Extraordinary General Assembly Session in 2017, he was elected as Vice-President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

On 3 May 2013 Alexandr Bilinkis was appointed as Honorary Consul of Mexico in Moldova (Cónsul Honorario Alexandr Bilinkis). On 12 December 2013 was held the grand opening of the Honorary Consulate of Mexico in Chisinau. The activity of consulate is focused on cooperation in the field of development economic relations between Mexico and Moldova and rapprochement of nations and strengthening of human relations based on cooperation in the field of education, culture and tourism.

In 2008 Alexandr Bilinkis was awarded with the State award of the Republic of Moldova the Order «Gloria Muncii» (Labour Glory)[11] for his significant contribution to the assertion of spiritual and moral values and fruitful organizational and social activities.

On 11 July 2016, Alexandr Bilinkis was honored with the American Jewish Committee Jewish Leadership award (AJC Jewish Leadership Award) for continuous efforts to rebirth, restore and unite the Jewish community in Moldova.

In 1999 he founded the Moldovan-American Holding company – Development Group, the main activity of which are investments in the food, agricultural and furniture industries of Moldova, in Mass-Media and in real estate assets. In 2006 the Development Group became the founder of the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham).

In 2000 Alexandr Bilinkis became the majority shareholder and member of the Board of the Orhei-Vit JSC. Since 2010 he has been the President of the Board of the Orhei-Vit JSC.

Since 2000 – has been the President of the Board of the Dionysos Mereni and owns a controlling stake in it

Since 2002 – has co-owned the Moldpresa Grup, the leading company in Moldova of printed media distribution, which in present owns the largest kiosks chain MOLDPRESA and bookshops LIBRARIUS. Alexandr Bilinkis has been company’s President of the Board since 2008.

Spouse – Olga Bilinkis (married since 1991), graduated from the Moldova State University (Chisinau), specialization in applied mathematics.

Children: two daughters (Anna and Alexandra) and son (Gabriel).




Public Association “Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova” is a nationwide organization consisting of 9 regional Jewish Communities and different organizations in Chisinau.
