Together. One Community. One History.
A History That Began Long Before Us.
The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova traces its origins to 1935, when the Union of Jewish Communities of Bessarabia was founded. Today we bring together approximately 12,000 Jews across 9 cities and regions of the country, on both banks of the Dniester. Over nine decades, eras, borders, and names have changed — but Jewish life in Moldova has never ceased. We are the guardians of that continuity.
Preserve. Unite. Pass It On.
Our mission is to strengthen the united Jewish community in Moldova, preserve its historical and cultural heritage, and build confidence in the future. Every initiative, every programme, and every partnership is directed toward keeping Jewish life in Moldova vibrant, cohesive, and forward-looking.
Over the years, we have made a significant contribution to the revival of Jewish identity, the restoration of community ties, and the support of religious life. We create a space where every member of the community feels a sense of belonging, through education, culture, and intergenerational dialogue.
Preserving the memory and history of the Jewish people in Moldova is one of the central priorities of our work. We document and transmit this heritage to future generations through archives, memorial programmes, and partnerships with leading international organisations. Memory is the foundation on which the community’s future is built.
