Leadership Delegation Visit to Israel

Between 3-7th October, a leadership delegation from the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova visited official institutions in Israel. The delegation was led by the President Alexander Bilinkis, CEO Aliona Grossu and Administrative Director Alexander Kleinerman. The agenda started by a meeting with representatives of the Pillar Foundation to discuss security issues pertaining to the Jewish Community of Moldova and a number of joint projects on strengthening the security of the Jewish educational institutions.

This was followed by a meeting at the World Jewish Congress office in Jerusalem with the Director General of WJC in Israel and member of the Israeli Council on Foreign Relations Dr. Laurence Weinbaum, Deputy Director General of WJC-Israel and Deputy WJC Representative in Israel Oranit Wiener and WJC Jewish Diplomat Nir Boms as well as other colleagues.

The Chair of JCM’s Board of Trustees Emmanuil Grinshpun joined the JCM delegation for a fruitful discussions with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Israel Alexander Roitman. The delegation welcome the appointment of the Ambassador and discussed the issues on the agenda of the organization as well as current challenges in the activity impacted by the situation in the region.

The delegation held a meeting in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs with HE Ambassador of the State of Israel in Moldova Joël Lion, Keren Cohen Gat, Director of the EuroAsia department in the Israeli Ministry, Mr Haezrachy Dan Special envoy on Restitution Issues and Hamutal Rogel Fuchs, head of the Jewish Communities Department in the Foreign Ministry. The upcoming events dedicated to the 30 Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and Israel were discussed.

JCM’s delegation rounded off their visit to Israel by meeting with the Global Operations division of the Jewish Federations of North America reiterating the importance of cooperation with the Jewish Communities in the United States and acknowledging the importance of support offered in addressing the consequences of the humanitarian crisis and assistance offered to refugees.

JCM’s delegation was honored to talk with such valued partners and supporters during the fruitful visit.

It was a particular privilege to hold such talks and visit Israel during Yom Kippur. Being in the special atmosphere of Jerusalem during this important date in the Jewish calendar and praying for peace and stability in our countries was an experience that each member of the delegation will long remember.
