End of the Women’s Support Group Project

Last week, the Jewish Community marked the end of the much-loved Women’s Support Group project with a beautiful ceremony in our community theatre. Our beneficiaries have played an active part in the Women’s Support Group – a project jointly implemented by HIAS Moldova and the Jewish Community of Moldova.

On Friday, before Shabbat, members of the Women’s Support Group received certificates and were able to reflect on the friendships and connections they have made over snacks, cakes and refreshments.

The Women’s Support Group was a safe space for women coming from Ukraine to discuss issues related to healthcare, discrimination or exploitation at the workplace, and language related challenges. It was also an environment to facilitate their integration into the broader society and protect women vulnerable to gender -based violence and human trafficking. The Women’s Support Group also provided legal, psychological support and mental health related assistance, in the form of visiting counsellors and psychologists. It gave women a chance to enjoy cultural events and activities while their children were being looked after by trained professionals at the Jewish Community’s Sunday School.
