Terezin ghetto – 77th anniversary of liberation

Today, on May 8, on the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration and transit camp of Czech Jews in Terezin, the leadership of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, headed by the president Alexander Bilinkis and chairman of the Jewish Community of Balti, Isaac Goldberg, paid tribute to the memory of the victims.

The Terezin Ghetto was created in November 1941. During the World War Second, about 140,000 people (including 15,000 children) passed through this camp, of which about 33,000 died, and 88,000 were deported to Auschwitz and other death camps and were killed. Terezin was liberated by Soviet troops on May 8, 1945.
