Letter from the President of World Jewish Congress for 120 Year Anniversary of the Kishinev Pogrom

On 20th and 21st April, we remember and pay tribute to the horrors of the anti-Jewish massacre known as the Kishinev Pogrom that took place 120 years ago today in 1903.

We are proud and honoured to receive the following letter from Ambassador Ronald S. Lauder, the President of the World Jewish Congress, marking this solemn anniversary and reaffirming the commitment between our community and World Jewry.

As Ambassador Lauder writes, “The World Jewish Congress stands in solidarity with the Jewish community of the Republic of Moldova in commemorating 120 years since the tragic and brutal events of the Kishinev pogrom, but also in its continuing fight against antisemitism, hate speech, discrimination, and violence in all its forms. The Kishinev pogrom reminds us of the dangers of hate speech and emphasizes the importance of combating antisemitism and promoting tolerance and understanding.”
