A press conference was held at the IPN Press Agency, organized by the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, addressing methodological and historical violations identified in the new 12th-grade history textbook, published under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
The conference was attended by Alexandr Bilinkis, President of the JCRM, Roman Rabinovich, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Aliona Grossu, Director of the JCRM, along with media representatives and experts.
📌 Key topics discussed:
🔹 Distortion of the role of the Antonescu regime in the Holocaust, using outdated and biased sources.
🔹 Omission of crucial data about the Holocaust in Bessarabia and Transnistria.
🔹 Unjustified equivalence of the Holocaust with other tragedies, which dilutes the scale of the genocide.
🔹 Manipulative formulations, making it difficult to perceive historical events accurately.
Experts expressed concern over attempts to distort historical truth and emphasized the need for history education based on scientific facts and international standards.
“The memory of the Holocaust is not up for debate. Any attempt to distort history must be firmly rejected, and as a society, we have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that the lessons of the past are properly taught to future generations,” noted Aliona Grossu.
The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova has stated that historical revisionism and the justification of criminal regimes responsible for crimes against humanity are unacceptable.
🕯 History must be told with honesty. Memory demands truth.
