At the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Summit dedicated to the memory of the victims of the 1994 Buenos Aires terrorist attack, the President of Argentina pledged to strengthen measures to combat terrorism and anti-Semitism.
During the forum organized by the WJC and the Latin American Jewish Congress (LAJC) in Buenos Aires, Argentine President Javier Milei promised to enhance the country’s anti-terrorist efforts, emphasizing the need to be firm and relentless in the fight against terrorism. This statement followed Argentina’s official recognition of Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Milei’s speech took place at an event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the attack on the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA), which killed 85 people and injured more than 300. The event, held on July 16-17, brought together political, diplomatic, and Jewish leaders to demonstrate unity in the fight against terrorism and anti-Semitism.
Key events of the forum included:
Public addresses, including messages from US President Joe Biden and Pope Francis, emphasized the importance of continuing the fight for justice and respect for human life.
The WJC Summit, held on July 16-17, was organized by the Latin American Jewish Congress in partnership with AMIA and the Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA). This global event, the first of its kind after the attacks on October 7, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and anti-Semitism.
We extend our gratitude to the WJC, a global Jewish organization of which the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova is a member, for organizing such a significant event amidst new challenges and the rise of anti-Semitism worldwide.
