The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova proudly announces that, following elections held at the 17th Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), currently taking place in Jerusalem, the President of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova Alexandru Grigorievici Bilinkis has been elected Vice President of the WJC.
This important appointment represents international recognition of Alexandru Bilinkis’s longstanding leadership, his dedication to the preservation of Jewish heritage, and the promotion of values, mutual understanding and cohesion in society. Under his leadership, the Jewish Community of Moldova has become a shining example of revival, sustainable development and contribution to the strengthening of interethnic dialogue.
Thanks to his initiatives, synagogues and memorials have been built and preserved, the National Day of Remembrance of Holocaust Victims has been established, a number of important amendments and changes to the country’s legislation have been adopted, and hundreds of educational, social and humanitarian projects have been implemented both in Moldova and beyond its borders. His active engagement in international and diplomatic formats has contributed to strengthening partnerships and promoting the image of our community at the global level.
The election of Alexandru Bilinkis as Vice President of the World Jewish Congress is a tremendous achievement not only for our community, but for the entire country, whose voice has been heard and recognised by the world community.
