The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, in collaboration with the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova, is organising the second edition of the “European Days of Jewish Culture” Festival.
Events will take place from 3 to 5 September 2025 in Chișinău and Bălți, with the support of the Agency for Interethnic Relations, the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage, the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Moldova, the “Nativ” mission and the Israeli Cultural Centre, as well as with the participation of the National Philharmonic “Serghei Lunchevici”, the National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri” in Bălți and the Bălți Museum of History and Ethnography.
This initiative, part of a large-scale cultural programme held simultaneously in more than 30 European countries, highlights the significance of Jewish heritage as an integral part of European culture and emphasises the importance of intercultural dialogue in contemporary society.
Through music, theatre, exhibitions, gastronomy and discussion events, the festival reveals the richness of Jewish culture and contributes to strengthening ties between communities, reflecting the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to European values of diversity and mutual respect.
Key events of the programme:
- September 3, Bălți — Opening of the exhibition “Mein Shtetle Belz — My Dear Little Town, Bălți” (1:00–2:00 PM), National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri”.
- September 3, Chișinău — Press conference (5:30–6:00 PM) and Gala Concert (6:00–7:30 PM), Palace of the Republic.
- September 4, Chișinău — Cultural and Educational Forum “Gesher” (2:00–6:30 PM), ARTCOR, followed by an open-air klezmer music concert and gastronomic event (6:00–8:00 PM).
- September 4, Bălți — Theatre performance “Life, Word and Destiny” by Natan Alterman (6:00–7:00 PM), National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri”.
- September 5, Chișinău — Opening of the exhibition “Jerusalem — The Youth of the Eternal City” (1:00 PM), Agency for Interethnic Relations.
