Press Conference of the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova held at IPN News Agency

A press conference organised by the Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova took place at the IPN News Agency, dedicated to the methodological and historical violations identified in the new history textbook for 12th grade, published under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Moldova.

The conference was attended by Alexandru Bilinkis, President of the JCRM, Roman Rabinovich, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Alena Grossu, Director of the JCRM, as well as press representatives and experts.

Key topics discussed: distortion of the Antonescu regime’s role in the Holocaust, use of outdated and biased sources. Absence of key data on the Holocaust in Bessarabia and Transnistria. Unjustified equation of the Holocaust with other tragedies, which obscures the scale of the genocide. Manipulative formulations that hinder objective perception of historical events.

Experts expressed concern over attempts to distort historical truth and emphasised the need to teach history based on scientific facts and international standards.

“The memory of the Holocaust is non-negotiable. Any attempt to distort history must be firmly rejected, and we as a society have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that the lessons of the past are correctly taught to future generations,” stated Alena Grossu.

The Jewish Community of the Republic of Moldova declared the inadmissibility of historical revisionism and the justification of criminal regimes that committed crimes against humanity.

History must be told honestly. Memory demands truth.
